Kelani Valley Plantations PLC (KVPL), a member of the Hayleys Group, has won the Social Impact Award at the World Sustainability Awards 2026, recognizing its commitment to improving the lives of Sri Lanka's plantation communities.
The award recognizes KVPL's flagship "A Home for Every Plantation Worker" initiative, launched to address housing, healthcare and education needs. Since 2006, the program has supported 19,578 workers in becoming homeowners, reached 127,941 individuals through health initiatives, and trained 6,273 learners through vocational education. These efforts have strengthened economic resilience, improved community wellbeing and contributed to an employee engagement score of 91100.
The World Sustainability Awards, organized by Sustainability Leaders in partnership with Amazon, recognize organizations demonstrating outstanding sustainability leadership and meaningful impact. The Social Impact category highlights initiatives that promote inclusivity, enhance wellbeing and create lasting social value.
This international recognition marks a significant milestone for KVPL, demonstrating how responsible business practices can drive meaningful social change while contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
